Choosing the right domain name is an important first step when you are starting an online business or blog. The domain name plays a large role in your online success as it is often what people remember and connect with your brand. Therefore, you should make sure you pick the right name.
Choosing the right domain name begins at godaddy.com. Here you can purchase your domain name and check for availability. Unfortunately many domain names are now unavailable, so you have to use some creativity to find the perfect one for your site.
Here are some tips for choosing the perfect domain name:
Make your domain name catchy and easy to remember (i.e. Google.com or Yahoo). Use Keywords that people will be searching for to find your website. Keep it short. Make sure it’s easy to spell and pronounce Use a thesaurus to help find words to use. Choose a domain name that reflects the content of your site. Avoid dashes and hyphens. Know your target audience and try to choose a name that they will like. Try to use visual, powerful words. If you plan to expand your site in the future, make sure you choose a domain name that can be relevant in the future as well. Be unique, don’t choose a domain name to similar to other’s in your market.
I am sure these tips will help you choose the right domain name. Don’t pay for ‘premium’ domain names, be creative and find one that is available for the normal price (which is like /year). It is a good idea to buy a few domain names in your niche or in niches you might go into in the future, since they are cheap and good domain names are getting hard to come by.
